The Drill Gao (ドリルガオー) is a support vehicle from The King of Braves GaoGaiGar TV series. One of the 3 Gao-Machines, it can combine with the Mechanoid GaiGar along with Liner Gao and Stealth Gao/Stealth Gao II to complete the Super Mechanoid GaoGaiGar/Star GaoGaiGar, forming its lower legs. By its own, the Drill Gao can attach onto GaiGar's arms to create GaiGar DrillGao Mode, or together with the Stealth Gao to create GaiGar S.D. Mode, increasing the Mechanoid's offensive ability.

It was piloted once by Kazuo Ushiyama during the battle against EI-16 due to the Zonder erasing the automatic program for Final Fusion in the Bay Tower Base, forcing Reo, Geki Hyuuma and Reo Shishiou to pilot the Gao-Machines and conduct Final Fusion Manual with GaiGar. In Episode 49, Drill Gao's right and left cockpits were installed with the Super AI units of FuuRyuu and RaiRyuu respectively to join GaoGaiGar in the final battle against the Zonuda Robo by acting as substitutes for the deleted Program Drive system, as the GS-Rides of the other Braves have already been depleted of energy by Zonuda earlier.

Even after Galeon's departure from Earth, GGG staff still maintained the Gao-Machines in perfect condition and updated them with the latest software as of 2017, making it possible for the Galeon brought through time from 2005 to 2017 to combine with them, with additional compatability support from Guy Shishiou's Evoluder abilities.

Overview[]

The only Gao-Machine not directly modeled after a real-life vehicle, the Drill Gao is essentially a specialized drilling tank, capable of traversing through all types of terrains with its pair of caterpillar treads and large drills. The tank can split apart into two halves, but this is often only for the formation of GaoGaiGar or GaiGar DrillGao Mode, since the Drill Gao loses much of its mobility when only one caterpillar tread is available[1]. On its own, the Drill Gao's piercing capability allows it to be employed in breakthrough tactics, such as breaching enemy barriers, or burrowing through obstacles to aid in disaster relief[2]. When rotating at extremely high speed, the drills can also be used to block laser attacks from enemies[3].
