Animus flowers.
The Animus Flower (アニムスの花 Animusu no Hana?) is a strange flower that grows from the heads of those who died while infected with Algernon. The fruit that these flowers bear is what a Somnium consumes to transform. The Animus Flower's biological structure is compiled by L-type amino acids. Aside from Somniums, this phenomenon is unique in the natural world.
“Animus” is Latin for Soul, rendering the plant as “The Soul Flower”.
